ILLUMINATED plinth which has added another dimension to my glass collection.

I have designed and made the body of this plinth using a 3D printer in a High Grade material called ABS.
ABS stands for Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene.
It is a tough, rigid, and impact-resistant thermoplastic polymer widely used for products needing high durability, such as automotive parts and protective housings.
It is 17 cm High x 16cm in diameter at its base.
It is 14 cm in diameter at the illuminated display pad .
The Illumination is made using a LED light globe.

From an Historical perspective it is very important to ensure correct and accurate information as to who Made them and their Countries of Origin.
Many bowl sets were not given names by the glass companies who made them.

The fate of three much admired European glass company's during the NAZI occupation of EUROPE in the mid 20th Century.

Whilst researching the History of Glass Company's in Europe I came across the following disturbing information.
I quote from a publication called-
Sklo Union Art Before Industry: 20th Century Czech Pressed Glass by Marcus Newhall.

CZECHOSLOVAKIAN Glass Companies
'The period between 1933 and 1940 was arguably one of the most unsavory periods in Czech glassmaking history.
Two major Czech Jewish glass owned businesses were to be appropriated and their owners were stripped of their assets and neither family were ever to receive restitution or recompense. '

JOSEF INWALD AG a Czechoslovakian Glass Maker
'In the case of Josef Inwald A.G. the family operations in Czechoslovakia were combined under Nazi ministry of finance, as Vereinigte Bohische Glasindustry A.G. (United Bohemian Glass Industry).
Oskar Inwald died in Austria, very soon after the Anschluss (Austria's connection to Germany) in 1938.
The only member of the family of the period, who has currently been traced was JK Inwald who was working in the UK.
JK Inwald died in Newcastle-upon- Tyne in 1987.
Following the end of World War II, the misappropriated Inwald factories were re-nationalized by Benes and again the Inwald Family were dispossessed, this time permanently, once the communists sized power.'

Carl Stolzle und Sohne A.G.
'The history of Carl Stolzle und Sohne A.G. became murky in the period between 1933 and 1939, as it would appear, moves were made to strip Hertha of her Company. Hertha was the widow of Ludwig Stolzle who died in 1927.
Hertha was by then married to an Englishman.
Board-room machinations (plotting) with the assistance of Nazi sympathizers in Austria's financial world, led to the loss of the Czechoslovakian factories.
It would appear, from the available paperwork that a board-room coup was mounted and share-holders who were not present and were unable to prevent the misuse of their shares.
Despite many years of work by the surviving members of the
Hertha Stolzle's family, no restitution has ever been made.'

FRENCH Glass Company
Edmond Laurent Etling
I quote from Wikipedia
'The firm of Etling, founded by Edmond Laurent Etling, was based in Paris at 29, Rue de Paradis retailing high quality exclusive decorative items during the 1920's and 1930's.
Edmond Laurent Etling founded La Societe Anonyme Edmond Etling in 1909 in Paris.
The works which he commissioned (not only in glass, but ceramics, ivory and bronze) were sold from his shop in Paris at 29 Rue de Paradis.
Glassware was made at the Etling Choisy-le-Roi glassworks.
Etling closed in 1940 during WWII.
Edmond Laurent Etling of Jewish descent, along with his family were transported to a Nazi concentration camp where they died.'

Fenster Dekoration's as seen in an August Walther & Sohne 1933 glass catalogue Germany.

Fenster Dekoration's (Window Decoration's) as pictured in the glass catalogue

Since starting my pressed glass collection 24+ years ago I have been trying to acquire one of the above Fenster Dekorations.

I have only seen pictures of them in a glass catalogue as pictured above and in photograph's as pictured below.

I have yet to come across any Fenster Dekoration's being offered for sale.
I am of the opinion that these items are Super Extremely Rare, and
with this in mind I decide to have ago at making one.

Pictured below is my version of a Window Decoration
(Fenster Dekoration), which I have designed and made.

It is 24cm in length x 8cm in width x 13cm high, consisting of 7 individual parts.
Its rectangular body will hold water to maintain floral decorations and Spring Hyacinth bulb flowering.
Made in a polyethylene terephthalate Glycol
(PETG)which is a thermo-plastic polyester
filament used for 3D printing.
PETG is the same material that some cool drink & beverage bottles are made out of.

Unfortunately the range of PETG filament colours which are presently available do not emulate the same colours that the Glass Companies had used when they produced their glass figurines in the 20th Century.

Zelda figural flower float bowl set.

Zelda (CN) two piece flower float bowl set.
The Maker and Country of Origin is unknown at this point in time.

Its one piece Figural flower frog is 5⅞ inches (14.69cm)high.
The flower float bowl is 8½ inches(21.25cm) in diameter x 2¾ inches( 6.9cm) high.

The above information and pictures have been kindly given by the owner collector of this set from Janesville, WI, United States.
The letters (CN) seen in brackets in the name of this set indicates it has been named by this collector and stands for 'Collectors Name'

When comparing the figural flower frog pictured above and the three pictured below in my collection their similarity in design suggests that they are likely to have been made by the same Glass Company.
The Maker and Country of Origin of them is also unknown at this point in time.

Pictured below is the Castle (AN) flower float bowl set.
Note the shape of the bowl in this set is identical in shape as the bowl seen in the Zelda set.

Its one piece castel shaped flower frog is 11.5cm (4½ inches) high.
Its flower float bowl is 19.5cm (7¼ inches) in diameter.
Seen in crystal, amber, green, blue and pink in a frosted finish.
Its Maker and Country of Origin is unknown at this point in time.
The letters (AN) in brackets in the name of this set indicates it has been named by me and stands for 'Authors Name'

PLINTH for displaying pressed glass figurines.

Plinth

They are 3D newly printed in a black plastic material called ABS.
It is 12cm in diameter at its base x 5cm in height with an inside Diameter of 6.5cm
Due to its unique design plinths can be made to order for specific figurines that have different Size and Shaped bases.

WINDY WENDY figurine an interesting observation

Windy Wendy figurine
It is 13.9cm (5½") high.
Seen in crystal, amber. green, blue and pink with a frosted finish.
Maker and Country of Origin is unknown at this point in time.

A collector from West Yorkshire in the UK has alerted me to a very interesting observation which prompts the following question;

Has the glass company who produced this figurine drawn inspiration from a fairy tail by the Brothers Grimm called Die Sterntaler
(English translation Star Money.)

And I quote the following from Wikipedia
'The fairy tail follows an orphan girl who has nothing in the world but a loaf of bread, the clothes on her body, and her abiding faith.

'A little girl loses both of her parents and as a result has to live as a beggar, with no more possessions than the clothes she’s wearing and a piece of bread someone gave her. Wandering aimlessly she meets a poor man who asks her to give him something to eat, and the girl gives him the bread. Then she meets a little boy complaining that his head is cold, and the girl gives her cap to the child; another child freezing to whom the girl gives her jacket; another child to whom the girl gives her dress; and finally when she arrives at the woods when it’s already dark another child who asks her to give them her shift. Because it’s dark and the girl thinks no one will see her she takes off her shift and gives it to the child. Completely alone and naked in the middle of the woods the girl sees stars falling from the sky and turning into coins before they land, that she gathers and carries in a new shift that magically appears in that exact moment. With that money the girl doesn’t have to live in the streets anymore'.

DEPRESSION GLASS what is it?

Pictured are examples of American made Depression Glass.

What exactly is Depression Glass?
I have gone to the Website of the National Depression Glass Association in the USA for their Definition for what Depression Glass is and I quote it word for word.

"National Depression Glass Association "Preserving America's Glass Manufacturing Heritage"
The NDGA was Founded in 1974

"Definition"
Although the “Depression” years extended from late 1929 up to the start of World War II, the term Depression Glass refers to American - transparent glassware that was manufactured from the early to mid- 1920’s, through and around the end of
World War II.
Much of that time was considered the “Great Depression”, but the glassmaking period extended out on both sides of the “Great Depression”

I have noticed that the Pressed Glass that was manufactured in Countries such as Australia, Czechoslovakia, England, France and Germany in and around the Great Depression is being incorrectly associated with the name Depression Glass.

With the National Depression Glass Association's definition in mind the name Depression Glass specifically refers only to American - transparent glassware that was manufactured in and around the time of the Great Depression.
