The PUNCH and JUDY paper weights were made by John Derbyshire at the Regency Road Glass Works Manchester in the 1870's.
The Punch and Judy paper weights both measure 7⅛ inches (18cm) high x 4⅜ inches (11.6cm) in diameter at their base.
Seen in flint(crystal as in clear), amber, light green, dark green, blue and jade.
The green PUNCH paper weight that is in our collection glows a brilliant green when placed under a UV light source, indicating that Uranium Oxide is present, which is reported to be harmless.
Whilst visiting the VICTORIA & ALBERT Museum in London we came across a glass display featuring a PUNCH paper weight in Flint (Crystal as in clear), with extensive damage.
PUNCH and JUDY paper weights are seen in a range of colours
