 August Walther & Sohne  made  two different shaped  Float Bowls using the same four leaf clover design.


 

 The bowl pictured below with the four leaf clover design is seen in the 1935 August Walther & Sohne catalogue 
 Note that the bowl shape is also in the form of a four leaf clover.

The bowl  is 34.4cm  (13.5") in diameter.
It is seen in crystal, amber, green, blue and pink in a frosted finish.

Pictured below is the completed SHAMROCK three piece Float Bowl set as seen and named  in the  August Walther & Sohne 1935 catalogue.
They are seen in crystal, amber, green, blue and pink in a frosted finish.

The round flared bowl pictured below has the same  four leaf clover design is seen in the 1936 August Walther & Sohne catalogue.

The bowl is 36cm (14 .25 ") in diameter.
It is seen in crystal, amber, green, blue and pink in a frosted finish.

What is a Shamrock?
The answer to this question is not clear.
It seems that a  Shamrock is a type of Clover.
In Gaelic the word shamrock means 'little clover'.
Most clover species have three leaves.
Clover species are in the Trifolium family which means three leaves.
It is possible however to find four leaf clovers.
These are rare and considered by some as lucky.
It is interesting to note that the two bowls made by August Walther & Sohne have been given the name "SHAMROCK".
