These sets were made in Czechoslovakia by Josef Inwald.
This set was found in a Life Line shop in Brisbane, Queensland in August 2014.
It was sitting on the counter of the shop when it came to the notice of  a friend of mine.
As he is aware that I collect  float bowl sets, he texted me the sellers contact information. I immediately made contact and purchased it at the asking price plus postage.
The sales person mentioned that it had been in the shop for some considerable time, lucky me.
The bowl set is in perfect condition and is a most unusual colour which I have not seen before.
I am still amazed at the colour variations that turn up from time to time.

ELEPHANT WITH HANDLER figural flower frog

The flower frog pictured  is the only one of its type  that I have come across in my 15 years of collecting, glass Float Bowl Sets.

It is 20 cm high in one piece. It is in Amber with a frosted finish.
The location of the  flower- arranging holes are visible on the base  but have not been pierced through.

I consider this item to be extremely rare  to the point it may be one of a kind.

The maker and country of origin is unknown.
Does any one have a catalogue that can provide positive proof about who made it?
Has any one else  seen other examples of this little beauty.

Bären (Bears)figurine.

Bären (Bears) figurine
There is an AUGUST WALTHER & SOHNE figurine that some people have described incorrectly as being Koalas.

I have always considered this figurine to be Bear Cubs climbing a tree stump not Koalas.

The Bären (Bears) figurine has not been seen in any of the AUGUST WALTHER & SOHNE catalogues to date.
However confirmation that AUGUST WALTHER & SOHNE had made them can be found in a 1952 price list.

I hadn’t noticed this reference to the Bären (Bears) figurine in the price list even though I have a copy.
It was brought to my attention by an observant fellow collector from Victoria.

As you may know there would have been bears in Germany but sadly no longer and as AUGUST WALTHER & SOHNE is a German company need I say more?

When this figurine was conceived the designer may have been looking back into the past nostalgically at what was.

The pictures below of Koalas and Bear Cubs demonstrate just how totally different these two animals are in appearance.
