The Figural Vase Set sketch below is not seen in any of the Rosice catalogues that I know of.

STUMP LADY Bowl Set Country of Origin Update

23/9/2021

Picture

The Bowl Set pictured above is the smallest of the Stump Lady Bowl Sets that are known to have been made.
It has always been believed to have been made by the Sowerby Glass Works but never confirmed. This company was located in Gateshead, Northumberland, England.

Several years ago I came across one of these Bowl Sets with a
MADE IN CZECHOSLOVAKIA label attached.

This label has raised the questions of who made these sets and where were they made?

Recently a Czechoslovakian Glassexport  Before 1958 Catalogue was sent to me by a Glass Collector who lives in Victoria, Australia.

It appears that more than one Glass Companies glassware is represented in this catalogue.

On page 36 of this catalogue is a picture of a Stump Lady Bowl Set numbered SE/2765a
I have included this page below.
Picture

The company who made these sets is unknown at this point in time,  however we can confirm that they were made in Czechoslovakia.

P D' AVESN  FRANCE  is visible on the rim of the lamp shade.

Pierre D'Avesn  1901-1990
It is said that from the young age of 14 he worked for Ren'e Lalique  a famous French Art Glass designer.
He left Lalique in 1926 to start up his own design studio.
His designes were  produced by Cristallerie de Saint-Rémy.
In 1930 Daum Freres approached Pierre d'Avesn to take over the artistic direction of their molded glass department, at the
glass-works in Croismare.
This affiliation lasted up until the strike of 1936.
From 1937 to 1940 he took over the management of Verly's.

While working for Daum & Verlys, Pierre D’avesn’s personal designs were allows to bear his signature unlike when he was working at Lalique.

From 1940, he returned to working on his own.
His designs were then produced by Cristallerie de Choisy-le-Roi- (Sèvres).

Piere D' Avesn is up there standing shoulder to shoulder with  other famous French Art Glass designers.

To see some of his other amazing designs check out the Archivd article list dated November 2018 >.
