STATUE AND BLOCK a very rare find.

STATUE AND BLOCK was made by JAMES A JOBLING AND CO LTD  in Sunderland England.

Picture
It is 11 inches(27.9cm) high in two pieces.
Entwined in her long hair that flows down her back are roses.

This White coloured Statue and Block is the only one that I ever seen  in all my years as a collector.
I believe it to be Very Rare if not Extremely Rare at this point in time due to its colour.
They are
mostly seen in amber, green, blue and pink in a clear and frosted finish also seen in green jade.
When and Where I found this  amazing Statue and Block.
In 2005 whilst visiting the Tyabb Packing Shed Antique Centre on the Mornington Peninsular in the State of Victoria Australia I came across this Statue and Block seated in a bowl as pictured below.
Picture
I immediately recognised that they were a marriage, which is where items of different makers have been placed together.
I still went ahead and purchased them, as I knew the Statue and Block was made by James A Jobling in Sunderland England.

The bowl was made by the Hermanova Hut Glassworks in Czechoslovakia.
It is the bowl #19678 pictured below on page 19 of their 1958 glass catalogue.
Picture

As a point of interest I have added the pictures below to illustrate that Jobling produced two variations of the Statue.
The Statue on the left has long hair with roses entwined down to her feet.
Where as the Statue on the right  has been modified by the removal of the roses to produce a smooth fall of hair down to her feet.
Picture

Three years passed before I eventually found and purchased on eBay  a White FIR CONE pattern bowl pictured below that was made by James A Jobling in Sunderland England.
The seller had it listed as Made in France.

Pictured below are pages from James A Jobling's 1934 catalogue which show two different patterns.

Seen in green in a clear finish.
Likely to have been made in crystal, amber, blue and pink.

A bowl in a clear finish is likely to have been produced  to accompany this figural stand.

Pictured below is a page from a Josef Inwald a Czechoslovakian Company 1940 glass catalogue.

CLASSICAL NUDE (AN) figurine.

Picture
This figurine is 23cm (9⅛ inches) high x 5cm ( 2inches) in diameter at its base.
Seen in  amber, green, blue and pink in a clear finish, also likely in crystal .
I have not been able to find a Makers catalogue or any other documentation that would assist in confirming which company had actually made this figurine.

Recently though, I have received information about a James A Jobling glass display that is seen in the NATIONAL GLASS CENTRE located in Sunderland, North East of England.
In this display there are three CLASSICAL NUDE figurines, two in green and one in amber all in a clear finish.

Pictured below is the relevant part of this display, note the three CLASSICAL NUDE figurines in this display, two green and one amber, all in a clear finish.
The two green figurines are both seen seated within a flower frog .

Picture
This display is confirmation that the James A Jobling & Co Ltd. Wear Glass Works. SUNDERLAND  ENGLAND is the Maker of the figurine.

Picture

It is 22cm (8¾ inches) high x 29cm (11½ inches) wide x 17.5 cm (6⅞ inches) deep.
Seen in crystal, green and blue in a frosted finish.
Other colors possible are amber, and pink.

Until recently I didn't know that this vase design existed.
It just goes to show that there are still glass jewels which continue to turn up out of the blue and this vase is one of them.
It was kindly brought to my attention by a collector from West Yorkshire in the U.K.
The Maker and Country of Origin is unknown at this point in time.

However it is possible that these vases were made by

VEB SACHSENGLAS an East German enterprise post World War II.

Should you have or know of a makers catalogue or other documentation that can confirm the Maker and Country of Origin please contact me.

The collector has mentioned and I quote 'The figure might have been the top part of a table lamp'

It is possible that one day a flower frog will come to light that was made for this figurine to make it into a two piece figural flower frog.
The collector has combined the ERIKA figurine with a Water Lilly patterned bowl.

Picture
Picture

The bowl was made by the BAROLAC Glass Works.
It is 5 inches (12.7cm) high x 9 inches (23cm) in diameter, # 732.
